Doors Open Days is organised nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust
The weekend of 14-15 September 2019 saw the latest annual West Lothian Doors Open Days event. It was also the 30th annivesary of the national event across Scotland.
Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free cultural festival. It celebrates the built environment and gives free access to around 1,000 venues across the country throughout September, every year.
Doors Open Days is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust with annual support from Historic Environment Scotland. Local area programmes are co-ordinated by a network of local authorities, heritage consultancies, civic societies and heritage groups who are in turn supported by a large number of volunteers, businesses, community organisations and building owners. The Scottish scheme forms part of ‘European Heritage Days’.
Linlithgow Civic Trust has organised West Lothian’s Doors Open Days since 2011 and was proud to be doing so again for the ninth time in 2019. We had another varied programme. Download this years leaflet below to get a flavour of what was happening.
