12-13 September 2020

Linlithgow Civic Trust is the co-ordinator of Doors Open Days in West Lothian

Doors Open Days is organised nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust.

The weekend of 14-15 September 2019 saw the latest annual West Lothian Doors Open Days event. It was also the 30th annivesary of the national event across Scotland. The programme for 2019 can be downloaded opposite to give you a flavour of what usually happens.

Sadly, due to the COVID-19 pandemic it has been decided that the West Lothian Doors Open Days event for 2020 will be digital only. No venues will be physically open.

All the details you need will be uploaded onto the Doors Open Days website in advance of the weekend - see

Several of our usual venues have signed up to take part and of course there will be lots of additional content from other areas too, so do enjoy all that this year's festival has to offer from the comfort and safety of your home!

Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free cultural festival. It celebrates the built environment and, in normal times, would give free access to around 1,000 venues across the country throughout September, every year.

Doors Open Days is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust with annual support from Historic Environment Scotland. Local area programmes are co-ordinated by a network of local authorities, heritage consultancies, civic societies and heritage groups who are in turn supported by a large number of volunteers, businesses, community organisations and building owners. The Scottish scheme forms part of ‘European Heritage Days’.

Linlithgow Civic Trust has organised West Lothian’s Doors Open Days since 2011 and is proud to be doing so again for the tenth time in 2020.
