Volunteers Required

Burgh Beautiful needs you …

ThreePlanters SmallSpring is most definitely in the air with sunshine and warmer days making the point.  Once again Burgh Beautiful is turning its attention to enhancing the town with planting throughout the summer and autumn seasons.  There is an additional encouragement to our activities as we are entering the "Keep Scotland Beautiful" competition after a gap of a year or two ... and this is despite the additional challenge of West Lothian Council withdrawing from all planting and reducing grass cutting to a "cut only" policy which leaves unsightly rolls of withering grass.

This is where you could help.  We need some more volunteer gardeners.  If you think you could look after one of the following then please  contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and include a phone number:

  • The planter at the very top of Manse Road (current barrels to be replaced);
  • Three planters in front of Timpson's on the High Street;
  • Two of the six planters in front of Taste on the High Street;

  • New planters to be situated at the town entrance on Edinburgh Road.
  • Alternatively you may prefer to work as part of a team.  If that is the case, then more help is required at the bed on the corner of Springfield Road and Blackness Road.

Very little gardening experience is required for these locations.  Lots of guidance is provided.  Come and join us now!

If you are interested, then please fill in an online application at http://lct.org.uk/lin/19-membership-form or simply contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it...

Litter Pick Organiser:

We are also looking for someone to take over the role of organising the town litter pick as Chris Long is giving up this role after seven years of helping to keep the town looking good. Chris would be happy to give the new organiser the benefit of his years of experience in order to help get them up and going in the role. The job involves working with other teams from the various town organisations in order to set up working parties at various locations throughout the town. If you are interested in this role then please make contact with This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
